TACTILE TEXTILES. OPEN TEXTILE EXHIBITION           INFORMATION                                                                           Textile Artists (individuals and groups) are invited to submit a piece of work for this exhibition which is aimed at the visually impaired, and also children. The idea behind the exhibition is to provide a stimulating and exciting experience by enabling visitors to touch the exhibits. When we are working with textiles we are constantly handling them, but as soon as they are put into an exhibition “Please do not touch” signs are displayed.

Tactile Textiles intends to dispense with this idea and create an exhibition to be experienced and enjoyed, though not exclusively, by the visually impaired.

Entries selected for the exhibition will be displayed in the Main Exhibition Gallery at the Red House Museum.

Judging                                                                                           All entries will be judged by an independent panel. The judges’ decision shall be final.

CADArts or the museum will not enter into discussion regarding indivdual entries or artists.

*To be eligible for the YOUTH Category entrants must be age 25 or under.

Dates                                                                                              Submission of Entry Form by:                                                            Tuesday 1st April 2008, enclosing a stamped addressed envelope.

Submission of Work                                                                    Work should be submitted to The Red House Museum, Quay Road, Christchurch on Saturday 14 June 2008 11am to 2pm.

Postal entries will be accepted providing the return postage is prepaid. Postal entries should be sent to                                                         The Red House Museum, Quay Road, Christchurch BH23 1BU to arrive during the week beginning 9th June and no later than 13th June.

Collection of work not selected                                                  Work should be collected on Saturday 28th June 2008 Between 11 am and 2 pm. Unselected postal entries will be returned after this date.

Collection of works exhibited.                                                      The exhibition closes on 25th August. Work can be collected on Wednesday 27th August between 11 am and 2 pm. Please note that no exhibit can be removed before the end of the exhibition

Preview                                                                                          An exhibition preview and presentation of awards will be held on Saturday 5th July 11 am—1 pm. All entrants whether selected for exhibition or not are invited to attend.

Entry Fees                                                                                       Individual entries—£2, Group entries—£5, Under 18’s—free.

All entry fees for this open will be donated to the Macular Disease Society, which is the current Christchurch Mayoral charity.
